Post of the Year
The Post of the Year award was named after the late Roger W. Kerkman for his dedication to Exploring and belief in a strong Post Program.
This award is given to the Post which exemplifies outstanding leadership, quality programming, and commitment to the ideals of Exploring. The award's committee selects the winner according to the following criteria:
Vocational Experience Area: A variety of experiences within the group's major interest area provides members the chance to explore both vocational and avocational fields. When there are no career programs regularly planned each month, special activities should be planned to meet members' vocational interest.
Leadership Experience Area: Leadership is more than officer elections. It includes Explorer involvement in planning, promotion, participation, and follow-up of programs and activities. It is the way the elected officers mold Post members into a group.
Citizenship Experience Area: Motivation of young people to help others without material rewards is necessary in our society. Service of this type will give members an understanding of the responsibilities as well as the privileges of citizenship.
Personal Growth Experience Area: Activities that develop young adults' skills in sports, outdoor and/or indoor social communication fields. These are planned to develop self-reliance through physical, mental, and emotional growth and to improve the ability of young adults to get along with each other and with other people.
